PRODUCTION CALENDAR

Ibsen's timeless classic essentially created the modern theatre with a single play.  With "the door slam heard 'round the world" and a controversy about the roles of men and women that lasted over a hundred years, A DOLL'S HOUSE is one of the most studied, talked about, and performed plays around the world.  The story follows Nora who has saved her beloved husband by borrowing some money to help him get better.  Unfortunately, in a society where women are essentially dolls belonging to the men in their lives, what Nora has done is illegal.  When all is revealed will Nora continue to calmly live in her doll's house eating her macaroons, or will she be thrown in jail, or will she finally begin living her own life?

Authentic

There is great power in truth. There is great power in authenticity. It can be comforting for a while to overlook or deny who you truly are, in order to go along with the crowd. Yet it is a false comfort that never does last. There is no person you can pretend to be who is as powerful and effective as the person you really are. No identity you might try to manufacture will ever work as well as the identity that has always been a part of you.

With authenticity, no effort is needed to maintain your sense of self. It flows easily and naturally through everything you do, freeing you and enabling you to live life fully. You are real and you are unique and you are of great value. It is in your best interest to mine the magnificent treasure of the authentic you.

Do not merely go along with life. Be authentic, and you will make it great.

St. Theresa's Prayer

"May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.... May you be content knowing you are a child of God.... Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us."

"People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they are not on your road does not mean they have gotten lost."
- Cesare di Bonesana Beccaria

"Crazy world. Full of crazy contradictions like a child. First, you drive me wild, and then you win my heart with your wicked art. One minute tender. Gentle. Then, tempremental as a summer storm; just when I believe your heart's getting warmer, your cold and your cruel, and I like a fool try to cope, try to hang on to hope. Crazy world. Everyday the same old roller coaster ride. But, I've got my pride, I won't give in. Even though I know I'll never win. Oh how I love this crazy world."
- Henry Mancini from "Victor/Victoria"

"Joy and fulfillment are not merely possible, they are unavoidable when you truly and sincerely seek them. Greatness is your destiny. There is no virtue in being resigned to a life that's anything less than the very best you can envision.

What is the purpose of this day if not to live every moment with joy? True joy is not irresponsible. Rather, it is highly responsible. Living your dream means being responsible to the best that you have to offer.

It is unfortunate that we so often equate happiness with destructive behavior such as revenge, substance abuse or idleness. Lasting happiness and joy result from creative, productive, disciplined actions. Being happy, joyful and fulfilled means being the best you can be.

The things you seek, with the moments, thoughts and actions which make up your days, you will have. You cannot avoid them. They are yours. So make them the best that they can be."

Desiderata

"Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."

"Trust your doubts. If you have the guts to doubt God, and to question all the things you have been taught about Him, then you may find God for real." - Arturo, "Miracle in the Andes"

Living in the gutters and sewers of New York was a frail, homeless old man full of love and divinity. His earthly belongings were kept safe in his tattered, army-green knapsack. He always had a few bits of stale pastries and spoiled fruits on-hand.

One day, he was standing in the sewer, washing his jacket in the runoff from a recent rainstorm. As he peered into the water, he noticed something shiny. It was a ring. It wasn't just any ring - it was a very, very large diamond ring with a value so great that money would never be an issue for the old man again.

He recognized the value of the ring and put it in his bag.

Less than an hour later, a young homeless girl approached the old man. She asked if he had any food to spare. He said, of course, and reached into his bag, withdrawing a crusty strawberry danish. When he reached into the bag, the young girl saw the ring and understood how rich it would make her.

The young girl said to the old man, can I have your ring?

He replied, of course. The old man handed the ring to the young girl.

Laughing, she took the ring and ran off. She thought the old man to be a fool.

A day passed.

The following evening, the old man took to washing again. As he washed, he heard someone approaching. Turning, he realized it was the young girl. She approached the old man, holding the ring in her outstretched hand.

Take the ring back. I want something even more valuable from you, the young girl commanded.

The old man asked, What's that? What do you want?

She replied, I want whatever it is in you that allowed you to give me this ring.

"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost. " -- Martha Graham

I Believe

I believe every person has within themselves inexhaustible reserves of potential they have never even come close to realizing.

I believe each person has far more intelligence than they have ever used.

I believe each person is more creative than he or she has ever imagined.

I believe the greatest achievements of your life lie ahead of you.

I believe the happiest moments of your life are yet to come.

I believe the greatest successes you will ever attain are still waiting for you on the road ahead.

And, I believe through learning and application of what you learn, you can solve any problem, overcome any obstacle and achieve any goal that you can set for yourself.

-- Brian Tracy
